The official opening of PwC Russia's Kazan office took place on 12 December 2007. PwC became the first of the Big Four international audit and consulting firms to open an office in Tatarstan.
The Republic of Tatarstan stands out among Russia's regions for its dynamic pace of development, political stability and relatively low investment risk. In providing audit and consulting services to Tatarstan's leading companies, PwC is also helping to attract foreign and domestic investment into the regional economy. Interest in the region is growing as well thanks to the government's priority focus on fostering innovation and nanotechnology. And, Tatarstan's active role in hosting various world-class sporting events is an equally important factor in promoting the region's economic development. PwC has been helping to make such large-scale projects in the region a reality.
Tatarstan is well known for its advanced industrial base, as well as for being a leading centre of higher education, and scientific and applied industrial research. PwC is proud of its cooperative relationships with many of the region's institutions of higher education.
Also, as part of the firm's corporate social responsibility programme, PwC supports the Disabled Children and Teenagers' Rehabilitation Centre in Kazan. Together with providing financial assistance, the firm sponsors various children's events. PwC Russia employees from the Kazan office frequently serve as volunteers for the firm's children's projects.
In 2008 the Republic of Tatarstan Government and PwC Russia signed a cooperation agreement.
