Strategic Planning Forum for Russian Regions and Cities

The seventh Strategic Planning Forum for Russian Regions and Cities was held in St Petersburg on 20–21 October 2008. The forum was organised by the Russian State Duma, the Ministry for Regional Development, the Ministry for Economic Development and Trade, and the St Petersburg Administration.

PricewaterhouseCoopers Russia sponsored the forum, which was attended by almost 700 delegates from all of the country’s regions. The forum provided a unique opportunity to discuss the most important issues affecting Russia’s social and economic development. PwC participated in the event’s main plenary session; Peter Gerendasi, Managing Partner, and Andy Tyler, Partner, gave a presentation on education in the regions during a roundtable session.

A rating of the competitive strength of Russia’s regions was also presented at the event. Including both global and Russian ratings, it uses a rating system similar to that of the World Economic Forum and is based on research on 3,900 Russian companies.
