The growing importance of emerging markets has created a significant shift in mobility patterns and volumes. New, more modern, forms of global mobility are on the rise in response to business demands and employee preferences. Where assignments were typically ‘duration based’, new short-term ‘purpose based’ assignments are becoming increasingly popular. Many of these are ‘virtual’ or ‘commuter’ assignments with no relocation involved.
