At the International Sports Event Management Awards in London on 6 November 2013, PwC won a bronze medal in the Best Use of Sponsorship category for its partnership with Universiade 2013 in Kazan.

The International Sports Event Management (ISEM) Awards are the best known international awards for achievement in the field of sports management. According to the ISEM evaluation criteria, award winners must have demonstrated “outstanding examples of effective and appropriate presentation or activation of their brand within the boundaries of a large scale sports event” (source).

ISEM awardAt the 8th annual ISEM Awards ceremony, PwC was the recipient of a bronze medal in the Best Use of Sponsorship nomination category for its work in support of the 2013 Universiade (World University Games) in Kazan, Russia, which itself won a gold medal as the Most Innovative Sports Event of the year. The city of Kazan also received special commendation from the judges as a leading sport city.

During the course of its Kazan 2013 partnership, PwC balanced delivery of key business consulting projects for the Executive Committee with a series of partnership activation campaigns to underline the role of PwC as a trusted advisor to the local administration, a leading advisor to the sports industry in Russia and beyond, and an employer of choice for young people in Russia and around the world.

This was the first time that PwC has received an ISEM Award and reflects the growing role that PwC is playing in the business of international sports event consulting and management.

PwC’s nomination for the ISEM Award was endorsed by both the Executive Committee of Universiade 2013 in Kazan and by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).

Eric Saintrond, Secretary General/CEO of FISU:

“PwC has proven to be an exceptional partner of the Kazan 2013 Summer Universiade in more ways than one. We all know that PwC is operationally exceptional in providing vital support and expertise to Organising Committees. PwC Russia's planning, budgeting and taxation consulting support as partner of the Kazan 2013 Executive Committee was a case in point. But, in Kazan, PwC also proved themselves to be a sports marketing powerhouse by using their rights and benefits to develop simple, yet innovative, high impact activations that set a new gold standard.”

PwC was represented at the ISEM Awards by Jeffery McMillan, Sports Advisory Marketing Senior Manager at PwC Russia.
