Legal 500 2014

The results from the Legal 500 Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) 2014 ratings demonstrate that PwC Legal lawyers have been recognised by both clients and the rating's editors for several successful, high-profile projects completed in 2013 along with their solid expertise in various legal areas.

In the 2014 rating, PwC Legal, as in previous years, was recommended by the Legal 500 EMEA rating. The following PwC Legal attorneys were given special attention in this year's rating: Yana Zoloeva (Legal Practice Leader, Partner), Yana Proskurina (Head of the Tax Dispute Resolution group, Partner) and Gennady Odarich (Head of the Immigration and Business Set-up practices, Director).

PwC Legal's Tax Litigation group has traditionally held a top spot in the rating's second tier. The Tax Dispute resolution practice headed by Yana Proskurina was noted for its major wins for Russian and multinational companies, as well as other recent work including tax audits for large multinationals and tax restructurings. According to the rating the team employs “an objective analysis of the taxpayer’s position” to deliver “valuable and practical advice”.

In addition, the firm's Moscow-based Corporate and M&A practice has long maintained its position among “other recommended practices”.

This year, PwC Legal Employment practice maintained its position on the Legal 500’s third tier recommended practice. The recommended key contacts in PwC Legal’s Employment practice include the Head of the Remuneration and Incentive Plans practice Yana Zoloeva and the Head of the Immigration practice Gennady Odarich.

Chambers & Partners по странам Европы 2014

Chambers & Partners Europe has traditionally ranked PwC Legal’s Employment practice. In this regard, PwC Legal was ranked in Band 3 (out of four bands).

The team is known for its advice on trade union and structuring issues. Furthermore, the firm’s practice in employment litigation, representing employers in dismissal and remuneration disputes, has been growing. PwC Legal is also respected for its focus on migration and how it handles secondments of Russian workers abroad. In addition, the firm can rely on the PwC network's wider tax expertise with respect to issues such as employee incentive programmes.

Joining the ranking for the first time this year, Gennady Odarich received special notice in the ranking thanks to positive feedback for his expertise in migration law. Sources comment on his "brilliant organisational skills," further describing him as "effective and clear in his explanations." The practice is generally praised by clients and has received the following feedback: "The team gives us the full picture right from the start" and "I like the fact that the lawyers are always there at any time to provide information and answer my questions, even on evenings and weekends."

Best lawyers 2014

For the first time ever this year, the Best lawyers international rating placed PwC Legal’s attorneys among the other best lawyers in Russia. A listing in Best lawyers is widely regarded by both clients and legal professionals as a major honor, conferred on a lawyer by his/her peers.

Inga Shakhnazarova from PwC Legal was deservedly ranked among the best in Russia in two areas: Real Estate (among 58 other top lawyers) and Construction (among 18) in Moscow.

The firm’s Employment practice and its associates also received high positions and are well regarded in the market. For instance, Alexei Dingin was recommended as one of the best 23 lawyers in employment law in Moscow.
