PwC has a long and proud tradition of engagement with the world’s premier business events. As the Knowledge Partner for the St Petersburg International Economic Forum since 2010, PwC has made an important contribution to the development of the international business climate and the economy in Russia.
At SPIEF, we carry out a range of projects to help forum participants and the international community learn about the most important trends in the global economy and to facilitate the sharing of views and experience among forum participants.
In our capacity as Knowledge Partner, we design all of the thematic sessions for the SPIEF business programme. In addition, we interview prominent forum participants, produce videos of key sessions, conduct of survey with the leading CEOs in attendance, and announce the winners of the Russian Business Book of the Year Award.
The public’s trust in business is plummeting almost everywhere around the world, and business leaders are struggling to respond. What can be done to reverse this trend? Will digitalization help to increase trust in business or, on the contrary, lead to further mistrust? How can business and government collaborate more successfully? Can companies be both highly profitable and socially responsible? Is philanthropy an integral part of a company’s role in the community? When designing their corporate strategies, how much importance should companies place on maximising trust in business?
Creative ideas and innovative solutions are becoming not just an important element of regional economic development, but core to global economic and sociocultural processes. Creative industries improve the investment prospects of cities and countries, allowing them to compete for skilled labour and young talent, and underpin strategies to promote exports of high-tech products and creative and digital services. Innovative and creative products have a positive effect on the country’s international image, sustaining progressive and modern brand values. How significant is the role of creative industries in driving economic growth and projecting ‘soft power’? Are there any current projects aimed at supporting and promoting the Russian creative sector in international markets?
20th CEO Survey
PwC is continuing its cooperation with Russia’s regions. We are still at work on the investment guide series. These guides give background on the region and describe its labour market and main industries.

Each year, PwC conducts a survey of the online community and forum participants on the economic issues that are addressed during the forum. The results of the survey are displayed on TV screens throughout the forum.
As in previous years, PwC continues to capture insights from the most interesting presentations for publication on the SPIEF website and distrubution to news organisations all around the world.
