Saint Petersburg, 25 May 2018 – PwC and Saint Petersburg State University have signed a collaborative agreement at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
With more than 30,000 students, Saint Petersburg State University is one of the largest research and educational institutions in the world. Among the faculty are Nobel Prize and Fields Medal winners, while more than 40 of the university’s laboratories and resource centres form part of Russia’s leading research park.
PwC will help the university to design new curriculum, as well as develop innovative courses and internship programmes. An important area of collaboration will be co-developing special-purpose innovative business projects and educational and research programmes.
The primary role of any university is to educate students. Saint Petersburg State University has exceedingly high educational standards, while its graduates are among the most sought after on the job market. Under the agreement, PwC will familiarise students with the firm’s business and working environment, while students in their fourth to sixth years of study will be eligible to participate in internship programmes and, potentially, to receive an offer to work at PwC upon graduating.
Igor Lotakov, Country Managing Partner, PwC Russia:
“At the forum, we spoke a lot about the importance of investing in human capital, which is key to ensuring economic growth for the country. Companies that commit significant resources to human capital hold a clear competitive advantage. Therefore, it is very important for us to cooperate with Saint Petersburg State University, and it is a great honour to work together and help prepare students who we hope will later join our firm.”
Otar Margania, Dean, Faculty of Economics, Saint Petersburg State University:
“I am very pleased that the university and PwC have signed this agreement. Our collaboration will start with the Faculty of Economics. Our labs are led by prominent economists and international award winners, and our graduates work for leading companies. We hope that the agreement will help us to take a broader approach to preparing students for the job market. I believe that our collaboration will be mutually beneficial.”
