Discovering and preventing fraud and corruption
The rapid growth of technology and heightened regulatory oversight are new challenges that all financial organisations face. According to the Russian Economic Crime Survey, 48% of respondents faced various types of fraud over the past two years. The most common types of fraud include asset misappropriation, procurement fraud, financial statements fraud, anti-money laundering (AML) non-compliance, and cybercrime.
Our team helps clients to investigate crimes that have been committed and apply effective tools for identifying risks and developing and implementing fraud prevention systems. We also help our clients protect their interests in disputes and litigation.
Asset tracing can provide significant benefits to financial institutions in cases where a debtor's property is foreclosed on or recovered through litigation. We use advanced tools and methods to help lenders and guarantors track the status of their debtors’ assets and guarantee beneficiaries to help identify potential appropriation of assets that could be subject to recovery on a worldwide basis.
Underestimating third-party risks can significantly affect the reputation and financial position of businesses and entrepreneurs. We perform integrity and affiliation due diligence to help you get a fair picture of your business relationships, confidently develop investment strategies and make decisions.
We carry out comprehensive analysis of borrower documentation to identify suspicious transactions, impairment and other risk indicators. We assess the reliability of information provided by the borrower, including data on pledged assets, and identify changes in the quality of these assets. We review the actual utilisation of loans and investigate schemes employed to withdraw cash from a firm.
Our team develops and enhances automated systems designed to monitor suspicious transactions. We perform data analytics and identify fraudulent actions, using algorithms and visualisation methods. We carry out procurement health checks, including quantitative data analysis and comprehensive assessments of quality parameters.
We carry out independent assessments of risks related to potential non-compliance with anti-corruption and AML laws and sanction regimes. We provide practical recommendations for improving corporate policies and procedures, and help develop comprehensive legal compliance programmes and support their implementation.
